3 Steps in Creating Your Website

 1. Setup

We set up a phone consultation or face-to-face meeting with you and either our Consultant or our Webmaster.  During this phase we gather information and you make some initial decisions.

  • Create your Domain Name including .com, .net, or .org.
  • Choose the package you would like or decide if you would like us to build you a custom quote.
  • Determine the kind of functionality you want on your site.
    • Functionality means how much interaction you want the customer to have with your site.
      • Functionality is broken down into two categories - Static and Dynamic.
        • A static site is one you look at and have little to no interaction with.  It has eye-catching appeal and is informative, but there is no way for the user to interact with the site with the exception of sending you an email through their contact form.
        • A Dynamic site is eye-catching, but has interactive parts.  Flash animation is a big part of making a site dynamic.  Blogs, Forums, User Signups, and other applications that run on the web make a site dynamic.  These sites, for business purposes, also have a secured part of the site that their employees can access to get vital information and forms, check email, and other useful functions.   Once again, your imagination is the only limit to how far you can take a website.
  • Preview the list of current clients in our portfolio.
  • Visit other sites that do business in your field or occupation.  This is one of the easiest ways to generate ideas.
  • We get an understanding of your business needs to help you make an informed decision about which direction you want to go.

2. Development and Design

We will have a face-to-face meeting, if possible, or set up a conference call to decide on design, colors, and layout.

    • If you have ideas of what you would like to see, write them down and bring them with you or email them.  The best way for you to decide how you want your site to look like is to browse other sites that are similar to the business you work in.  The only limit that you have to a website is your own imagination.
  • We decide what the turnaround time will be to get your site active.
    • Since this is a process involving both the webmaster and the client, there may be delays.  For example, if the webmaster is waiting on the client for pictures or information to post to their website it may increase the deadline.  We typically can have a static website up and running in under two weeks.  For a dynamic site, it may take a month to two months.  If the requested materials are received by the webmaster within a week of the meeting, the site design and implementation will remain on schedule.
  • We use IPOWER for domain and hosting services.  They currently have the best " bang for your buck."  They offer unlimited data transfer and disk space along with 2,500 email addresses .  Few other hosts do this.
    • Why else do we use IPOWER??  When we sign you up for your domain name and hosting, you are the sole owner of the domain name and site.  We act as the people that build and maintain your website.  This reduces costs for both of us since there is no equipment to maintain or service.
  • You will be given a username/password to log into the website while it is being developed.  We pride ourselves on being able to allow our clients to edit their own websites.  We will show you how this is done and provide detailed instructions.
  • Your email, if chosen as an option, will be active as soon as the domain name is loaded.  You will then get access to our instruction archives that show you how to to set up your email for checking it on the web along with using popular email clients such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.

3. Approval

Once the site is completed and all data has been incorporated into the site, we will ask you to log into the site and see if there are any changes you would like made.  When you approve the site, we take it live.

  • If the you do not understand how to use your site, we will train you and your staff.
  • Any changes that need to be made will be done and then sent to you for reverification.
